A screw-in heating element is an electrical heater with a thread that can be screwed into a machine, container or appliance to heat a medium using tubular heating elements. A screw-in heating element offers the advantage of simple installation and efficient heat transfer, as the medium (e.g. air, water, oil, chemicals, etc.) can be heated in direct contact. It is particularly suitable for installation in closed systems where the installation and maintenance of heating elements must be efficient and safe. The tubular heating elements and additional components of a screw-in heating element are often made of corrosion-resistant materials such as stainless steel to ensure a long service life and resistance to various temperatures and aggressive environments.

A cartridge heating element is an encapsulated version of a screw-in heating element. It consists of a protective tube with a thread and an electrical heating element in the form of a replaceable heating element. The protective tube is screwed into the machine or system and the replaceable heating element gets inserted and installed in the protective tube. The advantage of the replaceable heating element comes into play when the heating element needs to be replaced but the medium does not need to be drained.
